President's Message

Dear friends,

On behalf of the patients and families served by Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, thank you for joining with our hospital foundation in friendship and support.

During these times of economic stress, the need for support from our community continues to grow. Your contributions make it possible to provide high-quality, compassionate care for all and to continue the lifesaving research and technological advances for which Providence Health & Services leads the way. I am especially touched by how our Mission calls us to reach out a special hand to the poor and vulnerable, providing unprecedented levels of financial assistance and charity care.

Most recently, foundation donors and volunteers were key to the opening of My Little Waiting Room, a drop-in child care service on the hospital campus. This professionally staffed new center, supported by donations, enables more families to make and keep medical appointments.

Being involved with Providence St. Vincent allows me to say confidently that care here is among the best available anywhere. Like many of you, I've watched family, friends and neighbors benefit. I have also had the pleasure of working with administrators and physicians who are passionate about providing the finest medical care. This excellence has not gone unrecognized. Providence St. Vincent Medical Center has been named one of the country's top 100 hospitals 10 times, for example, and has continuously earned national recognition as a Magnet Hospital for Nursing Excellence.

It's also remarkable to me how many patients Providence St. Vincent serves each year. Annually, we deliver 6,300 babies, more than any other medical facility in the state. We admit more than 40,000 inpatients, and we care for some 80,000 people in our emergency department.

I am also impressed that we continue to innovate and lead with work at Providence Brain Institute, Providence Cancer Center, and Providence Heart and Vascular Institute. Your support helps us sustain excellence in each of these centers.

Providence St. Vincent Medical Center plays a pivotal role in our community's well-being. All of this is possible because of the community that surrounds and supports us in all we do.

Once again, thank you.

Marty Brantley, president
