Funding Priorities

Our community of donors - thousands of individuals, corporations and foundations - fund programs and services to make a difference in lives of the children and families we serve. Your gifts contribute to Providence Child Center's excellence. Please know that all donations, large and small, demonstrate your belief in our work.

Center for Medically Fragile Children at Providence Child Center
The Center for Medically Fragile Children at Providence Child Center is the only pediatric-skilled nursing facility in the Pacific Northwest that provides 24-hour long and short term care for medically fragile children and young people. Private contributions cover the shortfall between the cost of care ($150,000 per child per year) and Medicaid's reimbursement (86%).

Communication therapy program
Most residents at the Center for Medically Fragile Children cannot speak, but many have learned to express themselves through the center's augmentative communication program. Our dream is to build the communication skills of every child at the center and then expand this expertise throughout Oregon and beyond.

Family resource program
The Jean Baton Swindells Resource Center for Children and Families connects families of children with disabilities with the information, training and resources they need to help their children reach their full potential. Staff members work with each family to provide information specific to their child. All services are non-duplicative, including a vast lending library, professional speaker events and an all-inclusive disability Web site, all provided at no cost to families throughout Oregon.

Sharing the Care
Caring for a child with complex medical needs is a 24-hour a day commitment. That is why Providence Child Center offers help for families meeting the challenge. Whether it's a need for a break from daily care, help during a major medical transition or specialized medical management, the short-stay services provide relief and support.
